The Institute of Science and Technology  is one of the pioneer specialized foundations under Tribhuvan University has at present 13 Central Departments, 25 constituent grounds and 103 associated grounds. This organization has been effectively serving the nation in the field of Science and innovation and in addition in exploration. All the Central Departments run consistent Master and Ph.D. Programs. Some grounds run both the Bachelor and Master programs.

Countless work on logical examination ventures propelled in the Central Departments at M.Sc. levels. The quantity of researchers doing Ph. D. in various zones is expanding each year. it has given high need to collective trade program keeping in mind the end goal to make personnel, research researchers and understudies more skilled. The Institute has enough linkage and joint effort with various services, national and universal associations and scholarly foundations to cultivate the exploration action in like manner.

Vision and destinations

The IoST plans to advance the nature of its areas of expertise as far as successful showing learning exercises, research exercises, quality training and to create them as Center of Excellence by setting up all around prepared labs, Libraries, utilizing high gifted man controls and giving counseling administrations in science and innovation in close cooperation with national and universal organizations. As of late TU Executive Council has settled on choice to set up the IoST as the focal point of greatness under the chairmanship of the Dean. To work in this bearing, a board of trustees has been shaped and a fi year key arrangement has as of now been made. The fundamental goals of the IoST are as per the following:

Late Programs

Mahendra Ratna Campus, Ilam (Eastern Nepal) has begun Bachelor degree in Horticulture and Floriculture since 2012.

Sc. program has been changed into 4 year program subsequent to 2012.

Focal Departments of Mathematics, Microbiology, Statistics and Environmental science have begun semester framework since 2012 while Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Geology and Hydrology and Meteorology have begun semester framework since 2014.

All Sc. programs inside and outside the valley are keep running in Semester System from 2014-15.
